Bondi house sells for $7.7m after one open home, $2.2m above the price guide

A Bondi house has sold for $7.7m, $2.2m above the price guide, after one open home.

The home had a $5.5m price guide for the four-bedroom, three-bathroom “contemporary beach house” at 55 Imperial Avenue.

The result was also almost $2.7m above the previous street record of $5.01m — for a double-fronted Federation house on a 565 sqm block at No. 28 in 2016. And a record for the whole south Bondi pocket.

The original home on the 525sqm block was sold in 2014 for $2.73m, and was redesigned by architect Brien Kwong and interior designer Talia Nemes (Blue Label Design) for the 2016 rebuild.

The house has the key ingredients for what young families crave in the Sydney market.

What’s key is the large open-plan living space, and designer kitchen, opening through bifolds to the covered outdoor entertainment space to a north-west facing level lawn and pool.

It all worked, from the European Oak floors, the double-height ceilings and — especially — the recycled timber bridge linking the master suite, complete with lavish ensuite and walk-in wardrobe — to the other three bedrooms upstairs.
